SMITH FIELD at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA

Smith Field at Washington and Lee University was newly constructed in 1999 for $1.8 million.  (The field is officially named The New Cap'n Dick Smith Field for a legendary coach and athletic director).
The field was built to re-kindle memories of big league parks like Fenway and Wrigley with its brickwork and miniature "green monster" (in right field here).  It is set in a slightly recessed area surrounded by pine trees and ample berms for expanded seating.
Dimensions are:  (8' fence except in right field where it is 16')
Right Field line -- 320 feet
        Right Center ----- 365 feet
        Dead Center ----- 400 feet
        Left Center ------- 370 feet
Left Field line ---- 330 feet
(Several coaches have said it is truly a "pitchers' field.")
Amenities include lights, sunken dugouts with restrooms, water fountains, storage areas, enclosed bullpens and an indoor hitting and pitching building.
The field is natural grass and is fully irrigated.
Smith Field also features permanent seating for 350 with unlimited space for lawn chair viewing.  The press box, scoreboard and sound system are state-of-the-art, and there is parking (including handicap spaces) for over 400 cars within 200 yards of the Field.
