The Rockbridge Rapids announced today the appointment of Doug Raftery as 2010's Media Intern.
Raftery is a sophomore at Hood College, Frederick, MD, and resides in Brick Township, NJ.
"Doug has the sports writing experience and media background that will really help the Rapids this season," General Manager, Ken Newman, said.  Raftery's responsibilities will include all aspects of publicity for the team from the Rapids' website to print and TV media.
At Hood, Raftery is the Student Government Association Secretary, the Sports Editior of the Blue and Grey Today and Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.  He also plays varsity soccer for the Blazers and hosts a weekly radio sports talk show.
